Recorder NVR4032H, 32 of 32 channels used
PoE load up to about 340W, carried by the SG3428XMPP (500W, 24 PoE ports) and an industrial PoE++ switch
Storage 4 x 6TB drives, 24TB (up to 16TB per bay)
Retention estimate about 10 days of continuous recording, or about 20 days recording on motion at a busy site
You still need Cat6 and fibre cabling, a rack cabinet, a monitor for local viewing

Not included

Listed here so it does not appear as an extra cost later.

  • Installation and commissioning
  • Omada ER7206 router (optional add-on)
  • 10G SFP+ transceivers and fibre patch leads (quoted per site if a fibre uplink is needed)
  • Cabling, mounting hardware and connectors (quoted per site)
  • Rack cabinet
  • Elevated-access labour

Choose this when

  • Warehouses, factories and yards with 25 to 32 camera positions
  • Footage has to hold up as evidence after cropping in
  • Parts of the site need pan and tilt coverage from a single position

Look elsewhere when

  • You expect to add cameras beyond 32 on one recorder
  • You need number plate capture: plate positions are specified separately
  • There are no cabinet positions with mains power for the switches

Power backup

A power cut is the most common reason a system stops recording. At full load, with every camera at its maximum draw and the recorder writing to its drives, this kit draws about 460 W. This is what it takes to keep it recording through an outage.

Backup timeBattery energyLead acid, 12V 100AhLithium, 12.8V 100Ah
4 hours 2165 Wh 4 batteries 3 batteries
8 hours 4330 Wh 8 batteries 5 batteries

UPS or inverter rated at least 1000 VA. Estimates assume 85% inverter efficiency, lead acid used to 50% of capacity and lithium to 80%. Real draw is usually lower, because camera illuminators only run at night. We size the backup for your site on the quote, and it is quoted as an add-on.

Why this kit is built this way

System objective: high-density 4K coverage for factories, distribution centres and multi-acre yards, with hardened switching for outdoor cabinets and a 32-channel recorder behind it.

Why this configuration

  • 4K where the detail has to hold up. Sixteen 8MP cameras let you crop into recorded footage after the fact and still have a usable image, which is the difference between footage and evidence.
  • Switching that survives a yard cabinet. The DIN-rail industrial switch is rated from -40°C to 75°C, for positions a rack switch will not tolerate.
  • 24TB across four bays, which holds about 10 days of continuous recording, or about 20 days recording on motion at a busy site, estimated with conservative bitrates at H.265+ and confirmed for your site on the quote. The recorder takes drives of up to 16TB each where the incident is often found weeks later.

Three things to understand before you buy at this scale

Identification distance is shorter than coverage distance. A 4K camera watching 30 metres of yard records that ground clearly. Reading a number plate is a different task with a much shorter working range, and it depends on lens choice and approach angle. We specify plate-capture positions separately rather than assuming resolution alone solves it.

The recorder displays fewer channels than it records. The NVR4032H records all 32 but decodes four channels at 8MP, eight at 4MP or sixteen at 1080p for live view. A wall showing all sixteen 4K cameras at full resolution simultaneously is not what this hardware does, and anyone who tells you otherwise has not read the specification.

Power and ports. At maximum draw the cameras need about 340 watts: sixteen S485 at 12.5 watts, twelve C240 at 6 watts and four C540 at 16 watts over PoE. The S485 and C540 are PoE+ (802.3at) devices, and they need more than 24 PoE ports between them, which is why there are two switches. The SG3428XMPP carries a 500 watt budget across its 24 ports and the industrial switch powers the rest. The recorder has no PoE of its own, so all camera power comes from the switches.

Hardware bundle only. Installation and site survey quoted separately.
