Suprema BER2-OD Fingerprint Slave Reader

Read this before ordering: the BioEntry R2 is a slave reader, not a standalone door controller. It has a power connector and an RS-485 connector and nothing else. No Ethernet port, no relay, no Wiegand output, no inputs. It stores no users, no fingerprints and no logs, because it makes no decisions. Every match and every unlock happens in a separate controller upstream.

That controller is a Suprema CoreStation or another Suprema device acting as RS-485 master, and it is not included here. On its own this unit cannot open a door under any configuration. It is the right choice when you are building a centralised system where the controller sits in a secure room and only the reader head is exposed, which is a genuinely more secure architecture than a standalone reader by the door.

The reader itself uses a 500 dpi optical fingerprint sensor and reads 125kHz EM plus 13.56MHz MIFARE, MIFARE Plus and DESFire. It does not read HID Prox or HID iCLASS. Runs on 12V DC.
