What this is for
A fingerprint reader and door controller in one unit, which means it connects directly to the lock, the exit button and the door sensor without a separate control panel. It holds 10,000 users and a million event records on the device itself, matches against a 500 dpi optical sensor with live finger detection, and connects to BioStar 2 over Ethernet.
Reads 125kHz EM cards and 13.56MHz MIFARE, MIFARE Plus, DESFire and FeliCa, so most existing card estates carry over. It does not read HID Prox or HID iCLASS: that requires the BEP2-OA variant instead, and no setting on this model will change it. Runs on 12V DC and needs a supply rated at least 1.5A; there is no PoE on this device.
The reader is the electronics, not the door. A working installation also needs a regulated 12V power supply, an electric lock with a flyback diode, an exit button, a door position sensor and credentials. Suprema also advise against using a reader's internal relay on security-sensitive doors, since the relay sits on the unsecured side, and recommend adding a Secure I/O 2 module. Ask us and we will scope the full door before you order.
Compatibility
Works standalone as a complete door controller, or as the RS-485 master for a BER2-OD slave reader. It can be managed in the same BioStar 2 system as the BEW3-DB and FSF2-ODB terminals. Not compatible with Ajax Jeweller devices.
