What this is for

Sixteen PoE+ ports sharing a 140 watt budget, which works out to 8.75 watts per camera if you fill every port. That single number decides your camera choice more than anything else on the spec sheet. Infrared cameras like the C440I draw 5.5 watts, so sixteen fit with headroom. Full colour cameras with white LEDs draw considerably more: a C350 peaks at 10.5 watts, so sixteen of those need 168 watts and will not run from this recorder alone. Thirteen will.

Two drive bays take up to 10TB each, 20TB in total, recording up to 8MP per channel with 320 Mbps of incoming bandwidth. HDMI drives a 4K monitor at 30Hz with VGA available for a second older screen. All sixteen channels play back in sync when you are reviewing an incident, and it decodes ten channels at 3MP or sixteen at 1080p on the live view. Cameras plug straight into the rear ports and are detected and powered automatically, so a sixteen camera site with low-draw cameras needs no separate PoE switch or power supplies. The PoE ports themselves run at 100 Mbps, which is ample per camera, while a separate gigabit uplink carries the aggregate to your network.
