What this system protects
A defined access control scope for corporate offices and headquarters buildings, written for a tenancy that occupies one or more floors of a commercial tower and needs a reception line, a server room, and a set of restricted departments controlled separately.
It is built on an ICT Protege WX controller in the comms room, ICT tSec card and phone readers at the doors, and Suprema fingerprint or face terminals only where a door needs biometrics. Protege hardware is supplied on order through our Kenyan distributor, and estates spread across several sites are quoted separately.
Four decisions shape it. All lock relays sit inside the locked controller cabinet rather than behind the reader, so a reader pulled off the wall in a public corridor does not release the door behind it. Readers talk to the controller over encrypted RS-485 or OSDP with Secure Channel rather than Wiegand, so credential data on the cable cannot be captured and replayed. Frameless glass doors at reception are clamped rather than drilled. And the rules run on the controller itself rather than a Windows PC, so doors keep working when a server is patched, restarted or infected.
It is set up to keep the doors working through power cuts, with battery backup sized for the door count, and to support data protection compliance: individual administrator accounts, a defined period for keeping access records, and a card or PIN option for anyone who declines biometric enrolment.
No prices appear on this site. Send us the floor plate and the door schedule and we quote the whole scope, including the power supplies, cabling and door hardware that a bare equipment list leaves out.

What you get at handover
When we install, this is what you receive before we call the job finished.
- ✓ Every controlled door tested and commissioned, with a signed commissioning record
- ✓ Door schedule, access level list and as installed layout drawing, with the model and serial number of every device
- ✓ Administrator training for IT or facilities, and a short guide for reception
- ✓ 12 months workmanship warranty on our installation from the date of commissioning, in addition to the manufacturer warranty on the equipment
- ✓ Optional service and maintenance after the first year, quoted separately
What the quote assumes
If any of these do not match your site, tell us and the scope changes. None of them are dealbreakers, they change the quantity.
- • A comms room with mains power and cabinet space is available on the floor plate
- • Cable routes exist above the ceiling or in floor boxes to every controlled door
- • Doors are structurally sound and closers work, so a lock that must hold will hold
- • Escape route doors are identified on the drawings before the lock type is chosen
- • Staff data for enrolment is provided in one file rather than door by door
- • Work is done in normal hours, or an after hours rate is agreed before we start

- • Do you need access records tied to HR joiners and leavers, and on which platform?
- • Who will hold the administrator account, IT or facilities?
Bidding on a tender?
- ✓ Bidding on a tender that says 'or equivalent'? Send us the specification and we prepare the clause by clause response, highlighted datasheets and bill of quantities for the equipment we supply
- ✓ No charge when the equipment is supplied through Urban Eye. Company documents, bid security and your installation pricing stay with you
- ✓ Where a specification asks for a reader with a built in relay, the readers meet that clause. We wire the lock to the relay in the locked controller cabinet instead, which Suprema also recommends where security matters
- ✓ Wiegand is available where a specification requires it. Encrypted OSDP over RS-485 is recommended and quoted as standard
