What this is for
ReX 2 Jeweller: extends the radio, not just the range, so photos still get through
Most range extenders just repeat a signal. ReX 2 carries two radio protocols in parallel, Jeweller for commands and alarms, Wings for MotionCam photo data, across four antennas, so a facility too large for one hub still gets full photo verification at the far end, not just a beep. Alarms reach the hub in no more than 0.3 seconds through the extender regardless of how many devices are connected, and the first MotionCam photo arrives in about 10 seconds over Ethernet or about 18 seconds over Wings at default image resolution. Higher resolutions and weaker signal push both figures up, to as much as 53 seconds over radio in Ajax's own published table.
It can also run over a wired connection: an Ethernet cable to the same network as the hub, with no length limit imposed by the system, useful for an underground parking structure, a steel warehouse, or anywhere radio alone won't reach reliably. If one channel drops, ReX 2 switches to the other automatically. Up to 5 range extenders can sit on one Ajax system, each covering up to 1,700 m of open-space radio range to the hub, and up to 3,400 m from hub to detector through the repeater.
Backup power runs up to 24 hours with Ethernet disabled, or up to 12 hours with Ethernet active, so a power outage doesn't immediately cut coverage. Setup is QR-code pairing through the Ajax app, remote reconfiguration afterward, and a tamper alarm if the enclosure is opened.
