What this is for
Hub 2: see what triggered the alarm before you call anyone about it
Hub 2 pairs with Ajax's MotionCam detectors to deliver photo verification: when a detector trips, it captures a short burst of images, and Hub 2 gets the first photo to your phone or the monitoring station in up to 9 seconds at the default image resolution. Instead of guessing whether an alarm is real, you look at what set it off.
It stays connected through three independent paths at once, Ethernet plus two SIM slots, switching automatically within seconds if one fails, so an alarm has three chances to get through. Cellular coverage depends on the variant: Hub 2 (4G) carries 2G, 3G and LTE, while Hub 2 (2G) is 2G only. Two radio protocols run in parallel: Jeweller delivers alarms in less than 0.15 seconds, while Wings handles the heavier job of transmitting photo data.
The system covers up to 100 devices, 50 users, 9 security groups and 32 automation scenarios, with a radio range of up to 2,000 m in open space and support for 5 range extenders. Automatic self-diagnosis and frequent polling mean a connection loss is flagged in as little as 60 seconds, and the built-in backup battery keeps it running for up to 15 hours with Ethernet disabled. Setup mirrors the rest of the Ajax line: SmartBracket mount, QR-code pairing, and migrating an existing hub's settings, users, and devices over takes under 15 minutes. Note that Hub 2 has no internal sounder of its own; the audible alarm comes from a paired HomeSiren or StreetSiren.
