What this system protects
A security scope for a forex bureau, designed around the premises checklist the Central Bank of Kenya uses when it inspects a bureau before licensing and before approving a new outlet. It covers the counter during business hours, the strongroom, and the premises after closing.
Robberies of Kenyan forex bureaus have happened in daylight with staff at the counter. In Garissa in 2022 a lone gunman took about Sh19 million while the manager was out at lunch. So this scope starts with silent panic buttons that reach Urban Eye PRO Monitoring or your own security firm, before it adds anything that makes a noise.
Three decisions shape it. The panic buttons sit exactly where the CBK checklist lists alarm switches: the strongroom, each cashier's cubicle and the principal officer's office. The strongroom door needs two enrolled people to authenticate before it opens, so the checklist's requirement that access to the safe room is under the control of more than one person is enforced by the door, not left to a written policy. And each cashier's cubicle opens only for that cashier.
The alarm runs on Ajax wireless devices, so it goes into a finished shop without chasing walls, with Suprema fingerprint terminals only on the doors that need them. No prices appear on this site. Book a free site survey or send your floor plan, and we quote the whole scope in writing, including what is not included.
This scope is designed around the CBK premises checklist. It does not by itself make a bureau compliant; that is decided by the Central Bank at inspection.
What this scope covers
- ✓ The counter and cashier cubicles during business hours
- ✓ The strongroom and the safe room door
- ✓ The principal officer's office
- ✓ Outer doors, glass walls and windows after closing
- ✓ Smoke and heat detection in every room
What is included
- ✓ Silent panic buttons in the strongroom, each cashier's cubicle and the principal officer's office, the locations listed in item 13 of the CBK premises checklist
- ✓ Wireless alarm hub on two mobile networks and a fixed connection, reporting to Urban Eye PRO Monitoring, your own security firm, or named phones
- ✓ Keypad with personal codes and a duress code
- ✓ Opening contacts with shock detection on the front entrance and the rear loading door
- ✓ Glass break detection on the shopfront glass wall and windows
- ✓ Motion detection in the strongroom and back office after closing
- ✓ Smoke and heat detectors, as listed in item 14 of the checklist
- ✓ Suprema fingerprint terminal on the strongroom door, set so two enrolled people must authenticate before it opens
- ✓ Suprema fingerprint terminal on each cashier cubicle door, so a cubicle opens only for its cashier
- ✓ Lock relay on the secure side of the strongroom door, not behind the reader
- ✓ Door hardware set for each controlled door: lock, bracket, power supply with battery, exit button and break glass
- ✓ Arming schedules, user codes, fingerprint enrolment and handover training for the principal officer
What is not included
Listed here so it does not appear as an extra cost later.

What the quote assumes
If any of these do not match your site, tell us and the scope changes. None of them are dealbreakers, they change the quantity.
- • A single shop unit or office floor, with the strongroom inside the premises
- • The strongroom and cubicle doors are solid enough to take an electric lock
- • Mains power at the counter and in the strongroom
- • Mobile coverage from at least one network, confirmed on site
- • Alarms go to Urban Eye PRO Monitoring, to a security firm that can receive alarm signals, or to named phones
- • Installation is done outside business hours so the counter keeps trading
What we will ask you
Have these ready and we can usually quote without a site visit.
- • Is this an existing bureau, or a new outlet awaiting CBK inspection?
- • How many cashier cubicles are there, and do cashiers share any doors?
- • Where is the strongroom, and does it have a window?
- • Should alarms go to Urban Eye PRO Monitoring, to your own security firm, or only to named phones?
- • Who should a panic alarm reach first, and what should they do?
- • Are the outer doors and glass walls already reinforced or grilled?
- • Do you already have CCTV, and is it recording?
- • Who holds the keys and alarm codes today?
